The High Atlas Mountains of Morocco offer a dramatically different experience depending on the season. Each time of year brings its own unique beauty and challenges.
Spring (March-May)
The ideal time to visit for most travelers. Wildflowers carpet the valleys, temperatures are mild, and the mountain streams run full. Perfect for trekking and village exploration.
Summer (June-August)
Higher altitudes remain comfortable while the valleys can be warm. Toubkal summit attempts are most feasible. Accommodation should be booked well in advance.
Autumn (September-November)
Our personal favorite. The crowds thin, colors turn golden, and the skies are crystal clear. Stargazing is at its absolute best in October.
Winter (December-February)
Snow transforms the Atlas into a winter wonderland. Snowshoeing and photography opportunities are extraordinary, though some high passes may close.
